The amount of Highly Incendiary Stoopid that emanates from that particular mongolian cluster grope defies description. I am not convinced that reform is possible.

Subsequent loss of this voracious black hole of money gobbling lunacy (translation: "We can't force our lib'rull doctrine of brain rot on innocent kiddies anymore! Waaaah!") would leave a gap in the number of places the kleptocracy could shovel their ill gotten gains. In a more perfect world, this would mean dialing back the level of brain-drain to local control, which is always easier to get a handle on in our fine republic. This would also torpedo national standardized testing, which contributes greatly to the numbing of young minds. The wide ranging and long term effects of this would be many, and not all good, but I think it would be a step in the right direction.

Of course, organizing the support necessary to topple the Department of Education would involve... well, rather a lot. And most people here in my little Appalachians are sleepy, conservative, just want to live unbothered, types. I suspect most of rural America is the same. And perhaps that is the majority opinion of the U.S.- judging from poll turnouts vs. total voting population. Since becoming politically active means stirring up trouble, and the no. 1 motivator seems to be "just leave me the !#@% alone," we can safely assume that one's an unlikely to happen.

On an individual level, it requires a greater degree of personal responsibility. Have a child? Become *involved* in their learning process. Know whereof you speak when you disagree with their courses. Learn about home-schooling, if necessary (and it can be *very* necessary). Got money? There are good private schools out there, that actually teach kids how to learn.

Of all the dangers facing this country, the raising and teaching of a child is the most critical, I believe, in the long term. And the ones who shape our educational policy know this. That's why you'll likely see them pushing their agenda wherever they can get away with it in the classrooms. " 'Cuz its for the *childrens!* "

Another really, really good idea? Dump Affirmative Action. Recent case Fisher Vs. University of Texas at Austin et. al., Judge Thomas wrote a bit about it that I agree with: the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment makes Affirmative Action seem rather disingenuous. Wasn't the civil rights movement about... not discriminating on the basis of race, but instead working towards the dream of judging everyone on the content of their character? Getting rid of this state sponsored tinkering would likely lead to better confidence all around- if everyone has the same chance, then whoever is best qualified will get the nod. Can't see a thing wrong with that.

That said, enjoying the blog.

-noah.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3091269477877410857.post-4276633631788629452013-06-23T23:36:19.732-04:002013-06-23T23:36:19.732-04:00The video reminds me of a segment on CNN I saw in ...The video reminds me of a segment on CNN I saw in the aftermath of the 2008 crash. The topic was unemployment. They had Mike Rowe on and he was talking about a lot of places that were hiring. The jobs weren't office jobs. They were jobs in trades and many others doing that Rowe often had on his show. It wouldn't be as bad if we didn't have so many people majoring in business, or art history, or lesbian studies (not that I mind studying lesbians =) ). To top it all off a lot of these kids have a worthless degree, with a worthless job, and a massive pile of student debt that they will never pay off.RINOVirushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12137107425654653438noreply@blogger.com
